The conservation works to the Spire of the 1828 Gothic Revival Church of Ireland in Donegal Town were required to carefully and authentically repair extensive external weather-induced damage that was also causing deterioration of the timbers and structure internally.
Repointing of existing coursed rubble stone in hydraulic lime mortar and careful repair of cut stone pinnacles, parapet ,moulded string courses, and coping along with lead repairs to delaminated stone cills, decorative roof flashing, and lightening conductor.
Working with stone restoration and lead work experts, Rainey Restoration (Belfast) ensured that this prominent Landmark building will weather the next 200 years.
